Go through the following PowerPoint making notes where necessary. Look at the pictures of the victims and survivors when deciding whether the United States was justified in doing this. Remember there are arguments to BOTH sides here.

1. What would have happened if the United States had not dropped the Atomic Bombs on Japan?
2. Were there any viable alternative methods of ending the War in the Pacific?
3. Do you think the second bomb dropped on Nagasaki was justified?
4. How do you feel about the death and destruction these bombs caused in Japan and to its people?
4. Worksheet Activity:
Please complete the worksheet/graphic organiser on reasons for and against the dropping of the bomb. All work to be submitted in hardcopy during the first class of Term 4.
